I have spent most of my life living near or on the ocean. My family
and I have chartered yachts in most of the world's oceans. In May of
2008, I spent three glorious weeks aboard LUMAHAI, a beautifully appointed,
spacious and comfortable 60-foot catamaran with Captain David Pate and
his lovely wife Kim, the yacht's Chef and Master Deck Hand. In my experience,
above all, it is the crew that makes the difference in the charter experience.
I can sincerely say that in over 40 years of chartering, I have met
none better or more professional than David and Kim. They are not only
fun to be with, but they are extremely competent and professional as
well.
As a veteran charterer, I also know what I would want to insure an enjoyable
charter. Besides an extremely competent, safe and gracious crew, I always
wanted comfortable surroundings, good food and a variety of activities
ranging from "toys" to water sports to visiting interesting ports. Since
taking ownership of LUMAHAI and working with Kim and David, we have
examined all parts of LUMAHAI down to the smallest details, looking
at them from a point of view of ease and comfort for our guests. In
some cases, we added features we have not seen on other yachts simply
because we knew we would like them for ourselves.
We have gone to an extreme in attention to detail to insure the comfort
