Kim Pate pictureKim Pate

Chef and First Mate

Kim grew up by the sea in Southampton, England. After spending many years in the Hotel and Restaurant business, she has developed a superb culinary repertoire. As a Qualified Hospitality Specialist, she worked as a high profile events coordinator for British Government Cabinet Ministers and politicians.

Kim started sailing 13 years ago when she met David. The couple bought their own boat where she quickly learned the basics of sailing. Subsequently, she attended the U.K. Sailing Academy where she earned her Royal Yacht Day Skipper qualification while battling sub zero temperatures in March snowstorms and gales in the English Channel.

Cruising over the past 10 years with David, Kim has experienced an eclectic collection of cultures and culinary styles. She delights in providing gourmet meals and her homemade deserts are a great finale to her marvelous cuisine.

As Master Deck Hand and Chef, Kim is equally at home above or below decks. She makes guests feel welcome aboard Lumahai and puts forth every effort to accommodate each individual guest… and … if you do have to ask, the answer will most certainly be yes we can.
